About Louise

Renault 4cv manufactured in 1955

The 4cv, from the French manufacturer Renault, is designed by Fernand Picard and Charles-Edmond Serre, two engineers from Renault. Its development took place secretly during the occupation. 3 prototypes are required to complete the production model.

Nicknamed "the 4 legs" ("la 4 pattes) or even "the butter ball" ("la motte de beurre") because of its rounded shape and the yellow tint, it was presented in October 1946.

Small due to its external dimensions, it nevertheless remains spacious for its time.

The 4CV was the best-selling car in France until 1955. It was the first French car to reach production in excess of one million copies. From 1947 to 1961, its production was mainly carried out in Billancourt, and partly in Flins. With the Dauphine, the 4CV was, for almost fifteen years, the main model marketed by Renault.

Louise, registered in 1955, is in an excellent state. Overhauled and maintained, it will take you on the roads for your enjoyment.
